Share a little bit about you and your family
I've been married for 23 years to my handsome husband, Mike, and we have two kids, Maggie (20) and Henry (18). This will be the first year that they both will be in college, and our nest will be empty. In addition to my work as a voice actor and audiobook narrator, I sing with several musical groups/bands. Music makes me feel alive!
What drew you to Marin Charitable?
I joined Marin Charitable when my son was a baby and my daughter a toddler. The group of moms I met at Marin Charitable was all in similar situations. We nursed our babies between fundraising meetings and did our best to help raise the kids of our greater community, because every kid deserves to shine!
What made you say yes to becoming Co-President? (Year you were president?)
I wasn't very interested in being president, to be honest, but I couldn't hide anymore! After 15 years of membership and involvement, it was time. Fortunately, I was able to combine efforts with Jessica Berry to be co-presidents for 2 years. That made the load lighter and the time more fun!
What was your proudest moment as Marin Charitable Co-President?
Having a fun fundraiser is a definite success. Having a fun fundraiser that also exceeds your financial goals is a definite proud moment. We had a couple of those!
What's one piece of advice you'd give to someone considering Marin Charitable?
Remind yourself often what your purpose is in volunteering with Marin Charitable. Sometimes we can get distracted from that purpose. Keep your eye on the prize: helping our local community of vulnerable youth prepare for a better future.
What did serving as Marin Charitable Co-President teach you that you still carry with you today?
As Barbara Cancilla says, “It will all be OK.” Even if nothing goes to plan, it will all be ok!
